The song Senja di Kaimana (Twilight in Kaimana), popularized by singer Alfian in the 1970s, is a testament to the timeless beauty of Kaimana’s sunset. But its beauty extends beyond the twilight—it is an empire where the sea gods reside, a part of the world’s epicenter of marine biodiversity.

Here, you will encounter a vast array of marine life, from the smallest creatures to massive schools of fish in various shapes, colors, and sizes. You may even witness dolphins, majestic manta rays, marlins, and the awe-inspiring whale sharks that roam the waters, visiting the traditional fishing platforms.

The shallow coral gardens—both soft and hard corals—bloom vibrantly, radiating an explosion of colors and light. It is truly breathtaking. You will witness large boulders covered in vivid corals, vast black coral forests, and lush limestone peaks rising above the water.

This time, ourisland.id is organizing a trip to Kaimana in collaboration with Homestay Nus Namb Benggat.
This homestay is located in the heart of Triton Bay’s diving paradise, just 90 minutes by speedboat from Kaimana City.

Built by the indigenous people of Kaimana, the homestay is part of a community-based tourism initiative, using locally sourced materials that blend seamlessly with the tropical environment. The homestay faces the crystal-clear waters of Triton Bay.

Diving & Snorkeling Experience
There are over 30 dive sites in the surrounding area. Staying here allows you to explore everything from whale sharks to pygmy seahorses, stunning soft coral reefs, and other endemic marine creatures.
Just 15 minutes from the homestay, you can visit Lobo Village, the oldest village in the region, which holds the mythological history of the Garuda bird and is home to the first Dutch fortress in their attempt to conquer Papua.
Another 15-minute trip takes you deep into a pristine forest, where you can witness dozens of birds-of-paradise—majestic and rare creatures known as the birds of heaven.

You will also have the chance to immerse yourself in the daily life of the local Kaimana people, witnessing traditional dances, fishing, and enjoying freshly caught seafood with them.
